WESTSHIP was set up in Singapore under the name of Western Shipping Agencies Pte Ltd. in 1987 with primary focus to conduct agency business and crew management. In 1992 after change of ownership, new owners were keen to develop the company as a technical management company. Finally, during the year 2000, WESTERN SHIPPING AGENCIES PTE LTD. was offered a MR size tanker for technical management. By 2006, company was managing 10 ships and it was considered that a change of name to Western Shipping Pte Ltd, would portray a better profile for the company, accordingly name was changed. By then, though agency and crewing activities were ongoing, technical management became main business activity.
